The guitar occupies a central place in André Ferreira’s artistic work, from classical and romantic repertoire to chamber music and historically informed performance. His approach takes into account the particular character of each repertoire, as well as the instruments, musical practices and contexts in which they developed.

Vienna and Schubert

A particular focus of his current work is Viennese repertoire from the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, especially the music of Franz Schubert and its connection to the tradition of the Lied. This has led to recent projects including Schubert’s Winterreise, presented at the Brucknerhaus Linz with Michael Schade and Christoph Hammer, and at the Wiener Konzerthaus-Soirée with Julian Prégardien, in a programme dedicated to Schubert Lieder.
