André Ferreira’s artistic work is shaped by an ongoing dialogue between repertoire, instrument and musical practice. Moving between modern and historical traditions, he is particularly interested in how the choice of instrument can influence the way music is understood, performed and heard.

His work with historical plucked-string instruments has led to a broad exploration of the lute and guitar across different periods, where repertoire and performance approach continually inform one another.

Teaching is an integral part of his musical work. At the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (mdw), where he teaches guitar and lute, he works closely with students while continuing to question and refine his own artistic approach.
